Synergy Global Housing Launches CarbonSMART: Advanced Emissions Calculator for Serviced Accommodations

Enables Informed Stay Choices Aligning with Company and Personal Environmental Objectives

Houston, TX, June 30, 2025 Synergy Global Housing (Synergy), a leader in corporate housing and serviced accommodation program management, today announced the launch of CarbonSMART, a proprietary carbon emissions calculation and reduction tool purpose-built for the extended stay and serviced accommodation sector.

CarbonSMART search result

CarbonSMART stands apart from other carbon calculators in that it combines Synergy’s highly-detailed 33-question Green Leaf sustainability assessment with industry benchmark data. The result is in-depth, property-specific emissions reporting for Synergy’s owned/managed properties and supplier partner network. Integrated with Synergy’s SAPPHIRE technology solution, clients can easily view carbon data, filter accommodations by metrics and sustainable features, and benchmark progress across programs, regions and properties.

“As part of our commitment to environmental leadership, we have designed CarbonSMART to deliver nightly benchmark carbon metrics, providing better transparency and encouraging sustainable practices across our portfolio offerings,” said Cara Lingle, Vice President, Global Supply Chain and Sales, Americas. “This empowers both individual travelers and program managers to make more informed accommodation choices in response to growing demand for sustainability and visibility.”

Key features of CarbonSMART include:

  • Carbon emissions per property, per night (mtCO2e or tCO2e)
  • Sustainability ratings via Green Leaf tiers and CarbonSMART metrics
  • Visibility on sustainable efforts at the provider and property level
  • Reporting by booking volume, spend, and region
  • Supplier benchmarking and performance insight

“We built CarbonSMART to bridge the gap between guest choice and supplier transparency,” said Aaron Turner, Chief Technology Officer at Synergy. “This tool helps our clients track Scope 3 emissions from accommodation usage with far greater precision than anything else in the market today. More importantly, it gives our partners a roadmap to strengthen their sustainability practices.”

CarbonSMART Sourcing Score.

CarbonSMART is a central component of Synergy’s broader environmental impact strategy which includes such recent milestones as:

  • A 4% reduction in emissions in 2024
  • A Silver rating from EcoVadis, ranking in the top 15% of 130,000+ companies evaluated
  • A net-zero emissions commitment by 2045
  • Industry-first integration of scope-specific emissions data into program management reporting

CarbonSMART is the latest enhancement to Synergy’s recently launched SAPPHIRE technology tool, an API-enabled solution that streamlines extended stay and serviced accommodation management for corporate travel and mobility.

From the moment we opened the region, the market responded,” said Richard Franco, Synergy’s Director of Operations, Central U.S. “We built a strong foundation of properties, developed a world-class operations and service infrastructure, and most importantly, recruited a passionate team dedicated to elevating the guest experience.

Under Richard’s leadership, Synergy hired nine new associates across Texas, including six operations and three sales professionals. The expanded team includes a new Houston-based office supporting all facets of the business—from inventory and guest services to regional client development and operations strategy.

Today, Synergy’s Texas bookings are primarily concentrated in Houston (40%), Dallas (30%) and Austin (30%), reflecting the dynamic business ecosystems and mobility needs across these major metropolitan areas.
